The Newman’s Own Foundation has announced $6.7 million in grants to support organizations serving military men and women, veterans and their families. The new commitments bring total support for veterans from the foundation and Newman’s Own to over $18.5 million since 2010. The foundation will award grants to 26 nonprofit organizations around the country that assist veterans and their families. These organizations provide a wide variety of support to veterans, including education, career development, mentoring, guide dogs, adaptive vehicles and other services. As an example, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation is one of the grant recipients. Funds will help support the creation of the Dole Caregiver Fellow Professional Development Training Program. A special grant is also being provided to the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation for the training of guide dogs and the placement of these dogs with blind veterans.
